FINAL YEAR COLLEGE PROJECT
The National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) is a multi-venue, multi-purpose cultural centre in Mumbai, India, which aims to promote and preserve India's heritage of music, dance, theatre, film, literature and photography. It also presents new and innovative work in the performing arts field. The Centre was founded in 1969 by JRD Tata and Dr Jamshed Bhabha.
Concept: A compass is a mechanism which shows us the right direction. The word ‘encompassing’ means to encircle the things together and this meaning refers here to the compass. NCPA is the place where various arts from all directions have encompassed.
NCPA’s mission is to give exposure to Indian arts on international stage. NCPA’s work is all round searchfor art with its scintillating facilities like theatres, gallery and libraries.
I have found NCPA as a compass for us to show direction in art world which eventually encompasses the art world. ‘Compass ‘and ‘encompass’ are two words to carry and justify the purpose of NCPA.
Every visual have the elements of their respective art forms and every particular art form have their symbolic colors too. Illustrations of the art forms have their elements placed inside a compass. Rendering of the element have traditional Indian look.
